That's interesting, as mine is a camper special, so I wonder if they used that oil pan for any largish truck that might have various options later in the assembly line, ...

check ignition too, worn points or bad advance can cause misfires too dirty carb can cause that, intake gasket leaks, bad gas, etc., also a soaked float (they are not supposed to absorb gas) or a sticking/dirty needle-to-seat, bad power-valve, who knows? ... Vacuum test, total timing, check the coil...
