Re: Grill for 1970 D100
Repaired a dented grill with all metal filler and coated it with a dupli color paint called metalcast, does it look original ... no ... does it look ok ... for me yes.

Re: Ghetto HEI
I did the same thing without the gm distributor ... Hot wire fused from battery, spsd relay, hei module, hei coil, Mopar electronic distributor, jumped the resistor, and used the existing distributor wire as a relay trigger. I was able to then change the plug gap to .042 and retard the timing by 2 d...

Re: stock exhaust parts
You could try at waldronexhaust.com. They provide replacement systems for older vehicles. I bought a system for my 71 Utiline with a slant six and it fit well, and in the original location. When I spoke with them to order I found that it was possible to order a muffler with the exhaust tone that you...

Re: What brand, type, and weight oil do you use?
I had a 97 Dakota with the same engine. I used Valvoline or Pennzoil 10 W 40 changed at 3000 miles. I sold the truck after owning it for 10 years with 120000 miles it used no oil and the oil was pretty clean at 3000 miles. I sold it to a co-worker and she is still driving it. I did treat it with Sli...

I have a 71 Uteline with a slant six and 3 speed, and the previous owner pulled the two bottom leaves out of the front and it drives and steers fine.

Re: Door Hinge help
I rebuilt mine with the VPW kit. It took a couple of days of soaking, a little heating, and a lot of beating. I also used a Dremel to clean up the portion of the pin exposed below the hinge. I then had to drill out the hinge to the proper size for the new pins. The pins are bigger probably to accoun...

Re: Transmission help: rebuild vs buy used/new
Although I don"t know the facts of it's demise, if a 727 did nothing I would risk replacing the fluid and filter first. A dirty filter can cause that problem.

Re: Noisy Speedometer..
I think that in my manual lubricating the speedometer is a maintenance item. I know that it fixed mine, although I had to pull out a little plug made of fiber and clean it. I think the plug is to soak up and hold the oil.

Re: 1971-Adventurer- Rescue
My method for starting an engine that has been sitting for a while is to pull all of the plugs, find the tool you need to turn the crank pulley, squirt about 2 teaspoons of 10 wt oil into each cylinder and attempt to turn over by hand. If it turns rotate it a couple of times, check the plugs, points...

Re: adding power braks 225 equipped
71' s were available wth power brakes, I had my booster rebuilt by Prior reman in Texas. They had some boosters in stock then that was 3 years ago.
Prior to rebuilding I searched for a new one and had a hard time locating anything that just wasn't real generic.

Or would the most desirable be the truck...truck the 6 cyl 3 spd Utiline that a guy bought to go fishing, the 318 4 spd Sweptline that a farmer bought to haul his stuff to market and mauure to the spreader. Trucks in general during this period were bought for utility not pleasure. Just a thought.......
