Re: Let's See Those Trucks!

My 1968 and 1970 D200s.

The 1968 which is my favorite is resting at the moment.

The 1970 is a Custom that has a hood and front fenders from a Camper Special. This truck we used daily on the farm. My wife runs errands and the kids around town in it.

Re: My 1968 D200 - For sale

I still have the 68. The tranny finally gave up and it's sitting on a cement pad on my farm. I considering buying crate rebuilds and getting it running so i can drive it. A couple years ago I bought a 1970 Custom that used to be tow truck. It was purchased as parts for the 68. It is currently our fa...

Re: My 1968 D200 - For sale

Almost all the water was drained out of the engine over the winter. I could't find any signs of a cracked block.

Re: My $400 Truck - 1968 D200

It's with a heavy heart that I put my old Dodge up for sale. I'm moving off the main land in the spring. It doesn't make good economical sense for me to ship vehicles. So I'm asking $1000.00 obo A couple things need to be fixed to make it road worthy. - It blew a freeze plug over the winter so that ...

Re: My $400 Truck - 1968 D200

Well it's been a very long time since I was on the forum. Account issues, winter hits and too busy to work on my truck. I have to get it goin so I can ship it with me to Hawaii. My girl friend thinks I should sell it but I can't seem to part with it! What will I use to haul away the wild boar I shoo...

Re: Let's See Those Trucks!

Fix up the swepties and sell the rice burner :p

Those old Datsuns are cool though. I don't see them on the road anymore. I did see an attractive woman the other day at the gas station driving a Datsun about the same year. Not restored but in pretty good shape. It caught me by surprise!

Re: My $400 Truck - 1968 D200

Good advice John. I'm okay with Italy but not India. I wouldn't trash on my local Napa guy. I don't think they make enough money to deal with my **** But I do think I will send a mail to their corporate and complain. Who buys the products these big American companies are outsourcing? Well not Indian...

Re: My $400 Truck - 1968 D200

Well the description was misleading. I got the parts today and there was only one motor mount. So they are $8.99 each. But what really annoyed me was the fact that the part is Made in India. I always try to buy American Made goods! 60% of the work force where I work is now primarily Indian, Chinese ...

Re: How often does your Sweptline hit the road?

I finally go tabs on my truck and got the title switched over. So with the newly rebuilt carb we hit the road today. Drove for over an hour with no particular place to go. Sporting a radiator leak and no thermostat :) She ran real good in 80 degree weather and wing windows are a real treat when you ...

Re: "Old School" Exhaust Question....

That makes good sense Rodger. I have noticed the big Dodges trucks only have a single pipe outlet. The girl friends father has the midsize Dakota I should take a look at. I was actually going to ask about running a single exhaust Y with a 3 inch pipe and a performance muffler at the back. I figure t...

Re: The $400 Truck - 1968 D200 Swepty

Update: I just got done reconditioning the carb (Bendix-Stromberg 2 bbl Model WW 3-287). I use a brass wire brush, 800 grit sand paper, emery cloth, steel wool and carb cleaner. I guess I would call it a redneck rebuild but it turned out pretty nice. It runs like a top now not even one part replaced...

Re: Tranny fluid leak near dipstick

I will definetly get that done soon! So far it's only been driven around the neighbor hood and to the hardware store close by. The tranny fluid looks good but I intend to drop the pan, replace the gasket, filter and new fluid. The engine oil also needs a change. But when I went to Napa they couldn't...

I think your right on the money! I does appear to be pushing up from around the dipstick mount. I swear its not leaking anywhere else *cross fingers*

Thanks,

Tranny fluid leak near dipstick

Hi All I got under my truck today attempting to locate the tranny leak after I had cleaned the area up. After tightening all of the very loose inspection pan bolts which were causing some leaks, I then noticed another issue. There is a bolt on top next to the dipstick. It was loose so I tried to tig...

Re: Vin # location on LA318

Interesting, I did find numbers on both side of the block. The number on the drivers side does indicate that is xxxxx - 318 - 4 So I my assumption is that its a 318. However neither number left or right matches the Vin #as you indicated Rodger. The manifolds don't appear to have any brackets that I ...
