Re: D300 before pic and engine now pics

Yup some guys are blasting, then powder coating, then doing the body work then painting. On my truck the doors, tail gate, front bed panel, hood, bed strips, front bumper were all done before body and paint work. It was not my choice but the guy who did the body and paint work was owed a big favor f...

Re: D300 before pic and engine now pics

Thanks for the compliments. I am psyced to get the bed on. then modify stock bumper and have powder coated, ad frame mounted hitch, add an OD unit or maybe modify to a 5 speed. It zips along pretty good with the 19.5s and 4.88AS but the sL 6 would be happier with OD at 60. :Thumbsup Mopat, where is ...

Re: Swapping a poly for?

Hey, I do know the piston cylinder that is making the noise. I was told by an old timer gent to pull each plug wire while the motor is running. The cylinder giving you the problem will stop knocking or at least quiet way down. And it worked! It's the third piston from the front on the passenger sid...

Re: Flat head six

I assume that some of you have Power Wagons of other years besides 61-71. I'm very interested in the flat head six that was used in trucks both 2x and 4x Where is a good start to get information on this engine. And is there sources for increasing performance ? :study As you have discovered the spli...

Re: Locking Diffs

Additionally.... from what I know.... there was no sure-grip option with the 4.88:1 differentials. John locking rear diff or limited slip onthe 4.88 spicer 70s was defintely an option. 2 of the last 3 D300s I have or have had have the locked up diff. It was an option on the FFPWs as well. though th...

Re: 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air Vs. 2009 Chevrolet Malibu

that is brutal!! that year of GM cars had rag joints on the steering. They started that in the mid fifties on most cars. The GM frame of that era also was just a big X (no side rails) and considered very weak compared to other designs. they bend very easily in any front end collision. I think mopars...

Re: Oil air filter?

I read the results of a test done by the SAE and in the end the oil bath was better in some ways than paper and paper was better in other ways. they both scored the same on the test. I run what ever oil I am running in my engine. it does not need to be real thick. just fill to the level indicated in...

Re: My 1965 Dodge (My first vehicle ever!)

mileage should be better. might need atune up or like you menitoned valve work. my 66 D300 dually with 4.88 gears, poly and 4 speed got 11mpg empty. you should be getting much better as my 66 d300 weighed in at 6000 empty. probably at least 1000 more than your 200. congrats on the cool truck.

Re: Brand loyal

In my experience there is no parts that you cant get at an autoparts store for the poly that you might need. the tune up parts are teh same, plugs are different but they have those too. even the dist is the same. alternators, hoses belts alll that stuff is on the shelf. worst case you needed somethi...

Nope I sold that one. it is already missed but having fun in the H&M truck now. I sold the flat bed to a nice couple that moves south in the winter and the flatbed fit the bill for what they want. they dont take the interstate most the time and use the truck to haul stuff for work in the summers. th...

Re: New Member, New Truck!

congrats on the new rig. I went and drove that one but realized I had 3 trucks already and didn't need another rght now. My impression of that one was that it was a great start and it soudns like you are going after the needed things. I think it has a bad exhaust valve which the 318s are known to ha...
