Re: Non Power steer to power steering, axle change?

That is also true, my D100 (build truck) is a stock non power anything, my "parts truck" has all of the goodies. The 15" Chrysler turbine wheels and a 14 1/2" steering wheel without the power was a bear to maneuver, anyone who drives local or uses this as a work truck (how appropriate in this sense ...

Re: Non Power steer to power steering, axle change?

He is right, I have used the standard colum (Non Power) for the truck in the work phase (moving it around) The Power system bolted right up. I also have a newer Dodge tilt (Pull a part) to install that will be an easy install when the time comes. But my Dodge project is on hold, Ihave a 68 Mustang t...

Power steering swap

Hey thanks I think the swap will be an easy one after all. I really did not want to take off both axles to do it. One was enough.

Thanks again...

Re: Non Power steer to power steering, axle change?

you'll need the wedge shaped shims between the axle and the springs to effect more resistance to the system to regain some "feel" to the power steering. Ben Is that all that is different? If that is it this should be easy. I have a 14 inch steering wheel to install instead of the stock one. There s...

Non Power steer to power steering, axle change?

I have two trucks, one that is being restored does not have power steering (71 D100) However I have another that does have it, also a 71 D100. Can I just take the power steering off the one and install it on the non power steer one without changing out the axle? It looks that way but not certain tha...

Congratulations

I saw that on another site. That would have turned out much worse if it had been me and my luck. Saw a post that said you just tied the knot. Congrats. When you get some time I would like to set and talk a while to get some ideas. Building a 71 D100. Just gathering tools and parts at this point. Th...

I am the one that wrote that article on floor repair. However, it was a while ago... and I don't really recall the thickness of the metal either. However, The panels I made for the floor were made from metal that was cut out of an old 61 Chrysler roof. So... if you have access to metal from an old ...

Dick, anyway you can get a mike or caliper on the floor, I'd think even if rusted you should be able to get close. I miked my door then went to a metal supply yard and found something close allowing a little for wear. Hi Tom, I did just that, but got readings that said from 19 to 16 so from the per...

What gage sheet metal is used?

I am about to make a set of floor pans, (71) my bead roller equipment only handles up to 18 gage metal. In looking at the metal I think 18 or 19 is ok but not sure as the rust is masking the thickness.

Does anyone know what gage metal was used in the floor pans? :study

Thanks in advance

I have a tilt/extend column out of a mid 70's Chrysler. Didn't bolt in but was not too difficult to adapt. Mostly had to shorten it. I used an original style rag joint for connecting to the stock steering box. It is very important with a rag joint to have it lined up properly. It will destroy the j...

i put tilt in my 71,i used a gm column that had a floor shift auto,so no shift lever to deal with,i cut it off and used a bottom part of a swept column so it fit thru the floor correctly and i used a small jeep wheel,it also required some splicing of the inner shaft as i have the prototech power st...

Want to install a bolt in tilt wheel, Help??

Ok - I am arranging the parts to go into the 71 D100, I would like to put in the floor shifter and a tilt wheel while I am at it.. My 71 has power steering and power brakes if that makes any difference... I am looking for a clean looking non-airbag tilt wheel system. Hopefully one I can bolt in, but...

Over the years and good info

It is always better to have busted knuckle information than trying to do it on your own. My first restore was a 59 chevy PU. Did it without any manuals. Had to replace the windshield brow on the cab. Did it twice as the windshield test fit was poor. After that I made it a habbit to get as much info ...

For right now I think the current hinges are adequate. Time and testing will tell. But if I douse them I will post the results.

Oh, I see, duh, I don't know what I was thinking. It cant be much if everything is in good working order. :thinking I just checked the doors and they are pretty easy to move, the latch is another story, I will have to clean and dry lube them and try it again. I have not looked yet but assume a pin ...
