Re: Front Sump or Rear Sump

I guess I should have made it clear. I have been building my 440 for several years, because I have trouble making up my mind. I am now building a will use a stroked 440. I have two Milodon truck pans and pickup tubes. I plan on making more power than I really need. My original question was basically...

Front Sump or Rear Sump

On small and big block trucks were they factory front sump or rear sump. I am almost certain that my truck before I took it apart was a rear sump. It is a 71' D200 with a 440. I am trying to see what the factory set-up was and is it possible to change the trucks to rear sump? Let me know what you gu...

Re: Radiators

I just ordered a Griffin 27.5" Ford style radiator Top Right Inlet, Bottom Left outlet for either my 71 D200 or 69 D100. I also got the 22" Summit Radiator shroud kit with 14" electric fan. The shroud does not match the radiator exactly but I will figure a way to make it work. The shroud is about 3/...

Re: What goes between the bed and the frame? Wood? rubber, ect?

I am in the plastic extrusion business. UHMW is a very slick, very good wear rate plastic that is used in machines that convey products. The best example that comes to mind now is beer manufacturers. The machines that transport bottles down the line use UHMW as the side rails for its slick and good ...

Header Fit

Anybody have any idea of these fitting two wheel drive trucks or raised block trucks (413, 440 etc.)? I was considering trying to get them but I do not know about the fit. I have a 71' D200 and it will have a 440. Thanks for any help. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hooker-Headers-5809-1-Dodge-W100-2...

Prototech PS Kit

Does anyone have one of these left lying around? I was considering trying to remake these kits, but would require one to see how it was made exactly. If anyone has one laying around they could sell or loan please let me know.

This site they will interchange with regular LA stuff including hi-torque starters (http://www.1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/poly318_1.html). I have never heard of a different starter for the manual or for the automatic in any old mopars. The hi torque starters on ebay say they will fit anything inclu...

Re: Blue smoke while rolling downhills

The engine builder I use, who is now my good friend, told me that it is a common misconception that oil consumption is caused by piston ring wear. In fact, in most cases it is the intake valve stem seals, due to the vaccuum the intake stroke pulls from the valve to suck oil into the cylinder, thus c...

Re: B engine header/crossmember

Out of curisosity I was wondering, this particular article is specifying "B" engines, is this a bigger problem on "RB" engines. I would think that with the raised block engines it would raise the header exit even more so that is would be a bigger problem. Does anybody know if I am right or wrong.

Re: new motor

Hey I am all for more cubic inches, but that is not necessary to go fast anymore. A lot of people build 350's instead of 454's beacause they go faster for less money. If he wants a 360 that great, if he wants a 318 that fine to. As for stall conveters, where do you come up with you can go faster wit...

Re: new motor

I want to give you a detailed story line of my 318 build based on the Car Craft 318 with magnum heads build I did, but I don't have time now. Let me tell you this the more duration @.050 off you put in there, the more modifications you need to the whole truck to make it work. If you are putting that...

Re: Water Blowing from Exhaust and water in oil pan

It can only be a couple of things. First, it could be the head gasket and if it is blown you will get water in the oil. Also, another problem could be the head is cracked and you could be getting water in the oil from that. I take it the machine shop did magnnuflux the head before rebuilding it to c...

That is a good point you made about the price of fuel and the price of anything. I didn't go into that because I didn't want to get into that much depth of the whole problem. Now i want to read a few articles by a local auto enthusiast who wites in the Fort Worth Star Telegram. His name is Ed Wallac...

TCC or Tarrant County College here in Fort Worth hosted a 2 hour class a couple of years ago on Ethanol hosted by the Ethanol group. I was actually quite intrigued by ethanol in the beginning but as I have learned more about it I now know it is not feasible nor cost effective. Here are the reasons w...

Re: fly wheel help

All cast crank big blocks are externally balanced. All 400 were externally balanced via through the flywheel and harmonic balancer. All 383's to my knowledge have forged cranks and are internally balanced. 440's had forged cranks until about 72ish and then they used cast cranks. The latter cast cran...

Re: Geo Metro TBI question

As I said an O2 sensor can be checked with a ohm meter if you know the correct ohm range, and you can probably find out what is supposed to be on a Geo Metro forum (I am sure there is one, there is a forum for everything). They may even have a better idea of how to fix you car without spending any m...

I appreciate the reply and I like your idea about widening a chevy front end. I haven't thought of that, but I think you are right about making the track width to wide. I will look into it and keep posting if I can make it work or if it is feasible. You know I have found this forum great for ideas a...
