Re: Sweptline Limited Edition.....
I emailed him and here is his response: because there was only about 1200 ot these trucks made in 1962, by looking at the spare tire on the side of the truck also there is a emerald on the truck that says limited edition, i could send you a picture of it if you are interested in buying the truck, an...

cam swap with motor in? slant six
I'm thinking about putting a bit larger cam (.510" lift, 286 deg IN, 294 deg EX) in the truck (haven't even put 500 miles on the current cam yet) I have the head flow, intake and exhaust do justify it and I'm not concerned about the change in peak torque, bumpy idle, etc. The question I have is, has...

What motor? It sure is nice when the truck starts right up with no hesitation and no pumping the carb!

Unfortunetaly, you are right Steven...bummer. At least the 392 isn't near as bad as the 426, but both are way more than a big block.

Re: new pic's 62 d-100
Sweet truck! I love 4 eyed Swepties. Looks like at some point, someone backed into the front left corner or it ran into something. Someone backed into the same corner on my truck some years back and the damage looked very similar to what your truck has (bent headlight bezel, bent fender, broken head...

Mike,
Very similar thing happened here. I took my starter relay apart just now and the contacts were welded together. Thankfully it's only a $10 part.

Uh-oh! Keeps cranking when key is out!
Still trying to catch the electrical grimlin in the '64 D100. Here's the lastest news: I'll crank on the truck to start it and when it doesn't start, I'll turn the key to the "off" position and it stays cranking, also stays cranking once I pull the key out, also keep cranking when I pull all the plu...

Re: 392 hemi
Rodger, You are exactly right, I know there are lighter motors out there that can put out just as much or more juice, but like you said, this is of course for the "wow!" effect and personal satisfaction. This is all to say that the motor will be built up with all the goodies. Got to have a project t...

Re: Ever Run Out Of Fuel??
Yep, a number of times! Sorriest time was when my dad and I were on the way home from a deer hunting trip (in the '64 D100) with three deer in the bed and ran out about 4 miles from home and had to walk a mile to the next gas station.

392 hemi
Don't worry, I don't have one...yet. I've always liked the 392 and have been reading a lot about them lately. Just curious if any of you have or have had one of them in anything. There's a good article on sweptline.com about a guy putting a 392 into his Swepty. Does he hang around here? I am now off...

Re: clutch master cylinder problem
I got it all done and it works good now. I ended up taking the clutch MC off the truck and putting it in a vise, then got a piece of clear tubing and got another brass fitting and hooked it into the output and submerged the other side in the reservoir and pumped away. As for the slave cylinder, I ju...

skyrodder,
I don't mean to jack the topic, but how fast did/do you cruise on the long trips? I cruised at about 55-60 on my way to Longview from San Angelo several years ago with a 3 speed and 3.91s.

Maiden Voyage!!!
Took the truck on its 1/2 mile maiden voyage here just about an hour ago. Got the HEI module replaced, fixed the vacuum leak, and finished bleeding the clutch system (somehow, amazingly, the brakes still work!) and aired up the low tire and took it down the road and back. I wasn't hard on it at all,...

Thanks! I'm still running the A745 3 on the tree manual. I want to swap over to an A833 OD 4 speed in the (relatively) near future.

Re: Slant Sixer
Yep, for a stock motor the Super Six upgrade is the way to go. It uses a Carter BBD 2 bbl and a 2 bbl intake, also the exhaust manifold has a 1/4" larger outlet diameter. I had the 1 bbl on my truck when I got it and not long after I put a Super Six kit on it and it worked great. Better throttle res...

Re: clutch master cylinder problem
I suppose that tube that curls around and goes into the bowl comes from the output of the master cylinder? Also, once I bench bleed it, what then? Do you just put it on and install the line as normal?
