Very similar thing happened here. I took my starter relay apart just now and the contacts were welded together. Thankfully it's only a $10 part.

Yep, for a stock motor the Super Six upgrade is the way to go. It uses a Carter BBD 2 bbl and a 2 bbl intake, also the exhaust manifold has a 1/4" larger outlet diameter.
