Re: Front end conversion - IFS, disk brakes, rack and pinion
Mr. Legens says he has used them for years with no problems. I guess the day I decide to take the leap I will look this direction. Nothing like spending as much on a suspension upgrade as you did on the truck!!

Re: Front end conversion - IFS, disk brakes, rack and pinion
Very informative read for sure! You’ve talked me right out of that!! I spoke with a local hotrod builder Steve Legens of Legens Hotrod here in Weakley County and he said they typically use Fat Man Fabrications in NC for all their IFS kits. You can look up his work, his customer base typically spares...

Re: Front end conversion - IFS, disk brakes, rack and pinion
For comparison purposes, what’s the down side to a kit like this (aside from welding) with a front and rear suspension overhaul for half the price?

Paint Code ID
Anyone know which green this would have been from 71? I like it but can’t seem to find a name or code for it...

I figured it would be much the same as far as the kit. I was hoping they could offer it a bit more economical...

Re: Front end conversion - IFS, disk brakes, rack and pinion
I ran across the QA1 videos on YouTube the other day. Any idea how their kit compares to the others currently out there price wise? I’m really nowhere close to doing this but I see it coming in the future so I’m trying on top of what’s available.

Re: Thinking of buying this '66 sweptline, opinions?
If your the same MileHighdart from FABO then you already know how far we went to find one of these trucks that was not completely rotted out. There just aren’t many options in our part of the country... And even though my truck isn’t rusted too badly, it still suffers from a massive amount of incorr...

Re: Hood Hinges
The hinges are down on the firewall as far as they can possibly go. It even looks like someone used a hammer to massage the inner fenders to allow them to be pushed even further down. The hood still sits way too high on the drivers side. So high that I can actually fit my hand between the hood and c...

Hood Hinges
Would someone want to take a shot at identifying what I’m working with and maybe share what I need to have to make all this work together on this Frankenstein? As I learned in another thread, the cab is a 71 and the hood is 67 or older. What’s the deal with the hinges?? https://share.icloud.co...

Hope things pick up with the changes! I’m new here and to the Sweptline platform but I’ve already met folks willing to help me out with knowledge and parts needed. Forums are the only social media I participate in so it’s been hard watching most of them slip away as there is so much great info on ta...

Re: 1600mi Road Trip in a 71 D100
Thanks for all the advise! I really do appreciate it! PwrWgnDrvr is coming through with an affordable option for now on the trans mount. I am going to have to address the suspension before trying to drive many miles. Since I have no reference to a factory ride height, would someone mind sharing whe...

Re: 1600mi Road Trip in a 71 D100
We have a welder and I’ve messed with it just enough I can make it work if I have to but I do t need to weld where it matters structurally or cosmetically... As for time and patience, we have three kiddos 8,5,&3 so time is gone and some days patience is too!! Its a crazy season but I wouldn’t ...

Re: 1600mi Road Trip in a 71 D100
Swapping in a newer cross member is doable, or modify the existing one. Prolly not a bolt in thing. Others here know more. I have not owned a dodge truck newer than 1970. As I was once told, where there is a welder there is a way! My problem is the knuckle head using the welder... I’m afraid my wel...

Thanks for the link! I’ve considered looking into just trying to swap a later style crossmember so I can run the $8-$12 mount... Is that even an option??

Re: 1600mi Road Trip in a 71 D100
It does look familiar, but there were so many people and trucks that have come and gone over the years on this forum. It might take a long time to find. No doubt... I’m sure a lot of the things done to this poor truck happened after it left the hands of someone that cared enough to be part of a com...

Re: 1600mi Road Trip in a 71 D100
Yes, the frame is a 71. The engine is a 77 318 and has iH, as in International Harvester, cast on both sides of the block. That was a new one on me... I will try to get back by the shop tomorrow and run the numbers on the transmission to see if I can learn what it came out of.
