Re: Slant 6 swap

You would probably be best off to try to find a donor truck that has a LA small block like a 318, they are pretty common and you can grab all your brackets and what not. Only thing you might have to buy is the bell housing. I wanted the torque-flight transmission for my 65', which has a Poly 318. tr...

Re: wiper motor

I pulled one off a '63 parts truck for my early 65, the motors looked identical just more wires, if you get the multi-speed switch the single speed knob transfer over to the new switch and the single-speed motor pops right out, whole unit is a direct bolt in from the single speed. The switch is a bi...

Re: How to clamp air filter housing

Yes you are correct with the clamp, it fits over the slope and uses it to lock in. I have an air cleaner with that style of mount I will send a photo if I can find it. They sell adapters for them if you wanted to use a regular all-thread with a wingnut. link to adapter: (not 100% this will fit yours...

Re: Headers 1969 W200 318

I got my long tubes from Stan's Headers in Washington, made to fit specifically for Swepty Polys with zero clearance issues, I don't know if he's still around but might be worth looking into.

Re: My '65 Swepty

Looks really REALLY good! I like your valve covers as well. :salut Thank you very much! They are powder coated in what is supposed to be "silver", more of a light grey but I really liked how it went with the orange. :dance The decals I got off of eBay, and your CD helped a ton in getting my Swepty ...

Re: king pin bushing reamer size

For about the same cost as buying a reamer to do the job on your own, take your spindles and kingpins to an automotive machine shop and have the spindles brought to size. The surface finish and the size will also be much better that you can achieve with a hand reamer. I paid $35 for my spindles to ...

Re: W200 shock numbers

I just got new front and rear shocks for my '65 D100 off of Rockauto and they are a perfect fit. They got about 20 different ones that should fit, if you want Monroe's they have: 31131 Monro-matic (Front) - 34853 Monroe Gas-Magnum (Front) - 58484 Monroe Gas adjusting and Coil Spring (Rear) The 31131...

There are 2 filaments in the high/low beam lamps, thus 3 prongs. Only 1 filament and 2 prongs on the high beam lamp. Just look at the wiring harness to verify location. One will have a 2 prong connector, the other 3 prongs.
ahh that makes sense, thankyou! :Thumbsup

Just curious, I thought the outer were the low beams? That's been the case with all the 4 headlight vehicles I have owned.

Also I seem to recollect high beams only having 2 prongs.

Early "Four eye" Swepty Headlights

Hello, for the sake of preventive maintenance I am changing my worn out headlights on my early 65 sweptline. My questions is are all four the same exact light or are the low beam inners different from the outers that light up with high beams? :thinking The online parts manual only seems to list ones...

What determined if the truck left the factory with one or not? Is it part of a trim package?
I didn't even think about that, my truck that has it is a Custom package.

Re: Help pls!

Knock off the loose stuff, drill with wire wheel then hit it with some Ospho or similar chemical to covert it to black iron oxide, lay down some old towels to prevent drips from getting on stuff.

Re: 69 W200 New Ignition Coil-Runs rough, sputters, gas smell

I had a similar problem on my 318 Poly, turned out something with my alternator was bad and when I changed It never had the issue again. I would go through a set of points every 100 miles and cook condensers, I would try throwing another condenser and see what it does. Edit: just saw that you switch...

Re: wiper blade refills

Assuming you have the original Anco wipers, you need #800 Turtle back refills. Sometimes they are listed as 12" turtleback refills or any combination of those words, I just found some NOS ones from '68 and the rubber was like new on them, they seem to have put some kind of coating to keep the oxygen...

Re: Experience with Ramman D100-200 Front Disc Conversion

I was about to go disc brake route and decided for the time being to do a full rebuild on the factory drums, after new metallic shoes, hoses, honed and new pistons in wheel cylinders, a good clean of the hardware, fluid flush (my likely original brake fluid looked more like 80w-90) and new rear drum...
