Re: Big block pan talk

I have a 440 in mine, and it had a standard oil pan, front center, and when I lowered the truck, it hit the axle. I switched to a rear sump, and it hit the tie rod. So just be aware, that if you are moving the height of the truck, that can be an issue, otherwise, it looked to me like any of them wou...

Re: Fuel pressure

This has been frustrating and escalating. When I pulled the tank, it was very clean inside, I didn't clean it. The sock was missing, and I have not been able to find another. I did use compressed air to clear the lines, and I have replaced the rubber hoses, and added hard lines on any large sections...

Re: Fuel pressure

Since the last time I was on here, I’ve changed the carb to an Edelbrock 750, and discovered that it was a 440 with an aftermarket cam. I don’t know the cam specs, as I haven’t taken apart the front of the engine, but saw the cmc ep-45 marks on it. It also had a vacuum leak and I have addressed that...

Re: Fuel pressure

Thanks Mark. The electric fuel pump was wired simply to keyed 12v and ground. It was also a simple pump for carbs, it doesn't produce much more than 7psi. I kept a regulator just it case, and never needed it. I had considered, and still consider a cam/push rod issue, but I appear to be getting flow ...

Fuel pressure

I have a 69 383 with a Carter carburetor. Recently, I've been getting surging, and now almost stalling problems. My fuel pressure gauge says that my pressure is dropping to 0, and fluctuating from 0-4. I figured my electric fuel pump was going bad, so I replaced it with a mechanical pump. Same probl...

Re: 383 Oil Pan

The Van's pan looks good. Thank you. Luckily for me, I found a pretty stand up guy locally that had one much cheaper. Thanks for you help.

383 Oil Pan

I'm not sure where this should really be posted, so sorry if it's misplaced. I'm trying to lower my d100 (total nightmare so far) and realized my oil pan is going to hit the axle if I lower it any more than an inch. The engine is a 383 and the sump is in the front. Has anyone dealt with this and is ...

Re: Mini Starter Won't Engage.

It's fixed, I just didn't align it right before bolting it in, it was binding. Thanks for all of your help.

Re: Mini Starter Won't Engage.

So, I took the starter out, (it came out much easier, so at least I got a system now) and bench tested it. I know, I should have done that first, but it works perfect on the bench.

I was afraid that was the answer.

Mini Starter Won't Engage.

I just bought a rebuilt mini starter for my 69 D-100. After installing it, the new one spins away but doesn't do anything to start the truck.
Anybody have any advice before I pull it out? It was much tougher to install than I thought it would be.
