Re: Considering a 64 Crew

Maybe we're misunderstanding each other. In your last post, I interpret it to mean that power steering was available from the factory for the W series, but it had to be specially ordered. Did I understand that correctly? If so, I think we are in agreement. I was trying to convey in my earlier posts ...

Re: Considering a 64 Crew

Umm, yeah, that's probably why... So I guess we agree to disagree. Apparently, you're certain that Dodge never offered power steering on the W series, but I'm not sure why you believe that. I have a '66 W300 with a Garrison power steering assist system. I've seen the setup on at least two other W300...

Re: Considering a 64 Crew

Yes. The owner's manual covers D and W series as does the factory repair manual.

Re: Considering a 64 Crew

The original owner's manual for my '66 W300 has a reference to power steering (extra equipment), so I think it was an option on the W series trucks. Mine has a Garrison brand system. I've seen a couple of W300s and W500s with the power assist system.

Rare, but they are out there.

Re: Considering a 64 Crew

The power assist steering was an option on some of the W series trucks. My '66 W300 has a Garrison power assist system, which actually works pretty well, although it does leak like a sieve. It has a poly 318, which would have been the original type 318 for that year. It really depends on how cheap y...

I bought the parts from my local Mopar dealer a few years ago. Check out this link for the parts numbers.

Carb replacement for a Stromberg 2 bbl

Reading through the posts here, it looks like the Carter BBD is a good replacement for the original Stromberg 2 bbl I have on my 318 poly. I've rebuilt it once, but it doesn't seem to be reliable. I'd like to keep the original gas pedal linkage setup and manual choke. Is there a particular Carter BB...

Re: Zerk fittings on leaf springs eyes

I initially suspected that, but the grease I picked up on the screwdriver doesn't appear to be solidified. Maybe I can force some type of solvent in the cavity to help loosen any deposits that may have built up??

Zerk fittings on leaf springs eyes

I've got a '66 W300 with what seems like 100 grease or zerk fittings. On the springs eyes, there are zerk fittings, which won't take any grease. I've removed the zerk, replaced with working zerks and same result. I can't pump any grease in through the fitting. I remove the zerk and can stick a small...

Re: push rods?

I bought pushrods for my 318 poly with hydraulic lifters from Nielson Cams in Farmington, UT. Pricey, but they fit correctly. Here's the link.

Re: 1963 Powerwagon W300 Front drum brakes 4x4

Drums for the Dana 70 of that vintage are real hard to find. I've seen a couple show up on Ebay, but they went for a lot of $$s. Repairing your existing drums are probably the best option.

I think the premium 318 had hydraulic lifters. My '66 W300 with 318 had hydraulic lifters.

Re: P.T.O Winch mystery.

I think the standard factory winch for a W200 would have been a Braden LU-2. My '66 W300 has an LU-2. I had a '65 W300, which I recently sold, that was equipped with the Braden MU-3, which is a larger and higher capacity winch than the LU-2. There's a pic of the truck and winch on the for sale listi...

The only set I could find for a poly was Felpro at NAPA. I don't think there's too many manufacturers making gaskets for the poly.

Re: Albuquerque Machine Shops

Hi, I've heard Knighton's is ok. Edwards' racing engines are reportedly good, but can be quite slow and expensive. I used Don Best to do the machine work on my 318 poly, but had to take it back because the cam bearings weren't installed correctly.
