Re: A100 trailer hitch.....

this is working out pretty well. the channel stock was long enough, and i laid out all the holes to drill. got most of them done. should work fine, but ....homely, compared to the curvaceous rear bumper..... anybody need a a100 rear bumper??

They said if i bought the truck to thier Mesa, Az, HQ and left it for a couple days, theyd use my truck to make a pattern and give me the hitch gratis. Its a...

Re: Engine Intermittently shuts off

Sometimes a bad coil will quit when warm/hot, then fire up again. I succest you get a cheap multi meter- under 20 bucks- and you will better be able to diagnose the fault, using the shop manual drill. Multi meters are our friends!!!!

Re: rear drive ratio: what am i doing wrong?

both wheels would turn if its limited slip. if its not, and both wheels are off the ground, one would turn reverse to the other. Open driveline: one wheel off ground, 2 rotations........ its a 3.90.... too steep for my purposes. 3.50 will put 4 k @ 3.90 to 3600 rpm.... but when the tach & gps speedo...

Re: rear drive ratio: what am i doing wrong?

HA!!!! You have to turn the wheel 2x. it comes in just under 4 complete driveshaft revs, so its a 3.90.....the 39 in the body tag.id like a 3.60, a gearset runs about 250, and theres a limited slip bolt in for about 300..... hmmmmmm.... if it were an OD trans the 3.90 would be ok....... heavy haulin...

Re: rear drive ratio: what am i doing wrong?

it lists a 202, but this is a stick, that was a plumbing truck for years, so it carried weight. on top of that, 45 is wailing in 2nd, and it >feels< like a high 3/low 4. I got a cheap tach for it, but it still has points and the tach looses it- fuzzy signal, maybe. its getting an electyronic trigger...

rear drive ratio: what am i doing wrong?

'69 A 100. New to me. a 8.75 rear, the dataplate just has 39 under "rear axle". SO, it SEEMS like a 4 or so.... i jack one wheel off the ground, make a chalk mark on the tire & drive shaft, and one turn of the tire equals 2 turns, plus a inch more on the driveshaft. It CANT be a 2.00 rear end. What ...
