Valve Job cost.

318 Poly motor. If I pull and reinstall the heads myself, how much should a shop charge to do a valve job to both heads?

Have some lifters tapping and the exhaust is bluer than the truck.

A727 Trans Service Hack

Adjusted the A727, installed new filter and was getting frustrated at the gasket. Found a simple hack to make it quick and easy. The new gasket is rubber and slightly deformed from being in the bad, we’ve all been there. After cleaning the pan of all fluid residue I used blue masking tape to tape th...

Carter 2299 is this original?

Have a 64 D200 318 Poly w/A727. Is this carb correct or is it a replacement? Asking as getting ready to do a rebuild kit.

Kind of sad. Would be nice to know how popular or rare a specific vehicle was.

Re: Hub assembly bent?

Well the left front wheel locked up. Solid lock up when the brakes were applied. Got truck up on a rack and noted wheel turned a little forward then became very hard to turn, but moved freely in reverse. Things that make you go hmmm? Is the big shoe [the one with the most pad] on trailing side of t...

Any data on number of specific trucks built by year?

I’m a car nut period. It could be a 59 studebacher hawk and I’d go drooling nuts. My second love is numbers. For that, I love to research how common or rare a specific vehicle is based on production numbers. Does anyone know the number of D100’s built bs D200’s? Camper special vs custom vs custom ca...

Re: Hub assembly bent?

I read the instructions for this. Damn, this might get my neighbors running into my garage, probably call 911 and just wait for the light show. Now I gotta give it a try, at least once and I’ll see if I can’t video the process. Haven’t found a good video on this yet. Off to eBay to find a puller and...

If that's the tapered rear axle (big nut on the end) do yourself a huge favor and find a later 8 3/4 to swap in. They're plentiful in the wrecking yards.
bishko.com for the manual
I’m scared to ask why your saying do myself a favor?

My bumpers ran away. Have never been heard from. I need new bumpers. As to front bumpers, chrome or paint? Rear bumpers come in different types, wrap-around, diamond plate, paint (similar to the front bumper), and chrome. [/quote] Like to find chrome front and tears that match. Looking for a clean ...

Re: 64 D200 Problems and solutions

Found almost 1/4 inch of play in front steering. Tie rods and ball joints good. Appears to be a steering box. Will need to get one and install. Your truck has ball joints? It should have king pins. :thinking Used to have king pins, but they got demoted. You know how it goes with age. Pins start to ...

Re: Another 904 and /6 question

I’m here in AZ and get a lot of my parts from a local yard that has over a dozen sweptlines. I’ve seen /6 w/727 trannies still in them. Let me know if you’d like me to check with them on cost, shipping and such. They regularly ship parts all over the world.
