Brakes problem, Help!
I have a stock w200 that I upgraded with a brake booster from a d200 camper special. After the upgrade the brakes have been self adjusting to the point of locking up. I have put in new adjusters and new springs with new shoes but the problem still remains. What else could it be? Please help.
Im old enough to know better, but young enough to do it anyway.

Check push rod adjustment going into master cylinder.

did you do rear brakes at the same time
if so could have swapped self adj from one side to other ??

I had weird brake pulling and locking and it was the adjuster not making good contact with the notched "star" wheel. I don't know why but I tweaked the little lever and even filed it a little edge and it solved it.

Trial and error. Trial and error. Small adjustment's at a time till its correct.

To fix my issue, I backed off the adjustment enough to allow the
piston to rest against the stop and then went another 1/4 turn so
I could jiggle the adjustable rod slightly. I haven't had any issues
since.

Does anyone have a good part number for brake drums i think that is playing a huge part here. I adjusted the pushrod and i still have the same issue.

Turns out the numbers are different for '69-74 and some of them ARE available. Unfortunately, the numbers are for various types of axles and you'll have to match the styles and specifications to your truck.

when they lock up have you jacked it up and checked to see if its all 4 wheels or just the front, rear or one wheel?

I'm assuming you've replaced all of the rubber hoses as well?

Yes, I have replaced the rubber lines. the only thing i reused was the steel lines. It is usually the fronts first then the rears. if i back the brakes on the front off then the next day the rears will lock up.

Are you saying that when they lock up the only way to release them is to back off the adjusters? And then after awhile those same brakes lock up AGAIN and you AGAIN back off the same adjusters? If that is the case, it is NOT a hydraulic issue NOR a pushrod issue. it is an ADJUSTER issue!

I have all new adjusters and shoes and springs. I think the drums are worn so much that when i step on the brakes it pulls the adjuster cable before the shoe hits the drum. I am trying to locate drums now. Does anyone know if the 72 -75 drums are the same. they look really close online.

I just looked in the FSM brakes section. Under troubleshooting there is NO condition mentioned where the adjusters lock up the brakes. In the short section on the adjuster, it gives a method for checking their function. Get an FSM and study that. Note: the adjusters operate ONLY when applying brakes while moving in REVERSE. I have never experienced or heard of oversize drums causing a condition like this.
Look back at your history. If this started AFTER the booster upgrade, but the drums are still the same, why did it not happen BEFORE? Did you put new adjuster cables in that are a wrong length? Are you absolutely positive the adjusters are on the correct side? One is for the right, one is for the left. If backwards, they will definitely lock up the brakes.
