MPG

Post by camden97 »

Just curious what kind of MPG everyone gets with their trucks I get around 8-9 mpg with my bone stock 62 D-300 dual wheel and slant 6. The highest I've ever gotten was 12 but that was a lot of work haha.

6-10 depending, much of it in 4WD-Lo. It's rugged here.

8-9 with a /6? What the hell then is the point of an underpowered truck with a /6?
I get 8-10 in a dually 62 W300 with a poly 318!

Right haha! I kinda wanted to put a 383 in the truck when I got it but it was the original engine and trans that still ran and drove so I rebuilt the slant six.

I have a 68 short bed, with no bed on it, slant 6, automatic, 3.9 rear gears and it gets 14.

Ya, a stripped down shorty half ton is half the truck of a dually one ton so of course it would get twice the mileage.

I thought I would get better mileage but with 3.9 gears I guess I shoulda thought twice.

Easily solved by finding a 2.94, 3.23 or 3.55 gear chunk. :2cents :Thumbsup

I got 12 with a 383 powered crew. Automatic and 4.10 rear. And a Gear Vendors overdrive. Edelbrock carb and intake.

I agree, I was getting 8-10 with my W200, LA318 with 4.88's. I'd be looking at tuning the /6, because that don't sound right to me either. Or putting a V8 in it for sure.
