Hi can anyone tell me what the second spring is for.
I was wanting to put my spring under my axle. Can this still be done? Would i just put axle where block is and remove block?

Re: Different springs
Overload/helper springs. I have these on my D200 camper special
Re: Different springs
What is your goal here? Are you flipping
both front and rear axles? If so, you need to know that
you're changing your truck's steering geometry. You
are opening yourself up to "bump steer" as well as
other handling/suspension issues.
As the other member pointed out, those are over load
springs which would need to be completely removed
if you proceed with your plan. You'll need to un-weld
the spring perches and re-weld them and also flip
the spring pack bolts. You'll have to make sure your
drive line angles are equal on both the axle and
transmission end or you will prematurely wear out
the u-joints as well as open up the possibility for
drive line vibration. Lots to think about here....

Re: Different springs
Why would the perches have to be moved? If there is enough room that the axle doesn't hit the frame it seems that the perches could remain in their current location. If there isn't enough room a C-notch is probably required, still not requiring moving the spring perches.Hobcobble wrote: You'll need to un-weld

Re: Different springs
Welding on axle tubes almost always warps them and the housing has to be professionally straightened.

Thanks for the info. something to think about.

Re: Different springs
Short duration welds with a long cooling time in between to help but not totally solve the problem Powerwagondriver pointed out above.
