lift cab & front clip from frame?

Post by Red383 »

I don't post on here much, been lurking around for years. I bought a 65 D200 that I am starting to work on to get drivable after it's 20+ year hibernation.

I have a two post lift in my shop and was wondering if anyone has ever lifted the entire cab & front clip as one unit up off of the frame? Is it possible?

I've only ever owned uni-body muscle cars, so I am new to the body on frame concept.

Thanks

I did a cab and nose swap using a pair of brophy style cable camper jacks on my front lawn. Hoist would make it very easy.

most people seem to take the doors off and slide some heavy timbers through to lift from under the roof..
might help to take the fenders off and keep the weight a bit more balanced

I guess if you can do it with camper jacks, using my lift should be pretty simple. Dodgeboykim, does the red truck in your signature have any lift on it? Or is it stock suspension?

I'd like to do a 4wd conversion on my truck using a disc brake front end.

Thanks for the info.

Angle of picture is a bit off. Truck sits level on flat ground. Suspension is stock height. Never pulled back end apart in time I have had (43 years) truck.
Tires are 265/75/16

Just looking this over, are there really only 6 bolts holding the cab and from clip to the frame? Or am I missing any?

Thanks
