So I am about to pull the 383 with a spun main and have a 77 smog 440 I'll have rebuilt to go back in. Looking for a combo that will let me break into the 11s. It's a 71 D200 with a 727 and Dana 60 with 4.10s that I will swap out for 3.54s.
I'm thinking of a Hughes whiplash cam, forged Pistons, either having the 452 heads ported (if I can find someone to do it) or a set of stealth heads, hooker 1-7/8 headers. Not sure on the carb yet, I have a Holley 750 already but may need to bump to an 850. This should put me north of 550 hp. Not sure what a 71 camper special weighs, so I can't just plug in numbers to an online 1/4 mile time calculator.
Looking for advice. And recommendations for head porting.

11s in the1/4 in a 2 ton truck will be real Trick if You can pull it off have a 1970 Adventurer 318 auto 3.55 stock did1/4 17.01 sec engine blew rebuilt it with Speed Pro 9-1 pistons flat tops moly rings Hasting bearings Windage tray valley tray .441 lift int exh deg at 112 ported heads intake exhaust added dual exhaust running on stock 2bbl runs now 16.0 in1/4 so maybe your 440 has a shot at 11,s If not your close to the Rockies run it down hill have a Good Time LC from PA

Going to be tough to get into the 11's with 3.54's. Everything else, sounds like your going in the right direction. I don't know about the cam? will definitely need to have heads done up. Contact Bruce Toth at Toth Performance he can steer you in the right direction, I would definitely have the truck weighed before you start anything.

"Brian’s expenses landed him with a 440 big-block Mopar that’s been loaded with a 440 Source stroker kit for 508ci (4.28 bore, 4.36 stroke). The Ross flattop slugs are set up to shove 11.0:1 compression into the chamber of Edelbrock Performer RPM heads. The flat-tappet cam is a Howards grind with 272/272 duration at 0.050, 0.640/0.640 lift, and a 108-degree lobe-separation angle. A couple Holley 750s sit on an old Weiand tunnel ram and drink from an Aeromotive fuel system. We love the fenderwell headers with 4-inch dumps. The big-block twists a 727 Torqueflite with an 8-inch Turbo Action converter for a 5,500-rpm stall. The 8-3/4 rear uses 3.91 gears."

Brian's truck is really cool. Only, his driveline combo would not work as good in Tony's truck. Tony's truck is a lot heavier than Brian's and will require a lot more HP and gearing to get that D200 rolling.

Watch the YouTube videos of the "Farm Truck". Different branding for sure but a good over view of truck/ engine verses weight. In the old days a stock 440HP in a Duster was a good recipe for 12's in a 34/36 hundred pound vehicle.

Every 100 LBS of weight reduction is worth about a tenth of a second to a point. If your serious about the 11's you'll need to do your homework. Way more involved than an engine recipe.
