Start with the brakes... because everything you do after that will "need" a test drive. So, you may as well be safe in stopping. Have FUN!

Damn, I should have drove it first, so I could give you a heads up on all that. Seems like it's all stuff that is pretty normal for a truck that has sat around more than being driven. Hopefully they will be simple fixes..

Hey, not your fault. I knew it would likely need some work. Maybe not as much as it does, but it is an old truck. Looks like it will be a few months getting her road ready.

Definitely make a list and ask here first. If you are tagging historic in Maryland, you dont need an inspection. Gauges could be the fuel gauge volt limiter being fried. I used the solid state ivr3 but you can make your own limiter too. I can try to help some as i rewired my cab a couple years back. I will be out of town but you should check out the Mason Dixon Dragway Mopar ahow May 15th.

Brakes/suspension/electrical should be first order. Spring bushings were not that bad of a job. Could need king pins too

Well, I finally got to spend a couple hours getting to know the old girl today. No repair work done except fixing the loose ignition switch. Just crawled around under her and gave her a good wash and vac. She runs a little rough, but I found a new set of points and a condenser in the glove box. Previous owner said he has no idea last time it was tuned up. Was able to verify the rear end is a Dana 60 (w/o anti slip) and winch does work. Are these the OEM locking hubs? Pics below.

Very nice and apparently unmolested Crew! Good on ya for picking this one up. I sure gave this one serious thought. Keep us appraised of your progress on this one.

Lol, I paid too much. But, it is the truck I have been looking for a long time to find. My grand dad had one of these and I remember riding around in it with him. College for the kids all paid for now and had a few bucks for a toy for the old man. With my crazy work schedule lately and the rain every weekend, I haven't been able to even start on it. Hopefully this weekend I am going to tear into the brakes and see what is going on there. Found a local (sort of) shop today to get the front end suspension work done. One of the problems is that the dang thing won't go all the way in the garage...It will be a project. I has a lot of little stuff that needs attention as well. Gauges, ignition switch, door locks, back up lights, etc...

This may sound dumb... but how do those "FREE" wheeling Lockout hubs work? Do you lift the lever and then rotate it 360 degrees to LOCK the hub?

Exactly. Pull both levers out then rotate to the locked position and snap them back in place. They have "free" inscribed into one side of the lever and "locked" on the other so they are pretty dummy proof.

Thanks! I never knew how they were since I never had a W model. That means... I could work them! HAHA!!

But most W models don't have those hubs.
