It is one of those. Which then makes me ask is it possible and or worth it to convert it to locking hubs? And the cost?
The axle is 150 bucks.
Thanks all,
jim

I haven't been in a situation where I had to research this. I wanted to bring up
this CAD axle topic to see if others who might have gone this route can chime in on
this. :study :Thumbsup I can only assume that by this time ['92], all the half ton
front axles were full time or CAD. :thinking

With the CAD axle you could use a POSI LOK like Soopernauht posted or remove the CAD system and permanently lock it , Then install Warn locking hubs. You can also remove the 2 part CAD axle, Make a cover for CAD and use a one piece solid axle. Gives you a bit to think about. :thinking :thinking

Will locking hubs swap right in the end of the hub or do I need all new outer bits?

Does anyone know if the locking hubs (warn) from my 1970 axle will work in the 92 axle?

Possible if is the 1/2 ton front Dana 44 (5 bolt wheels). You would have to try it. You might be able to look up application on a Warn site to see if 70 and 92 PT # the same. :thinking

Is a 70 axle the 5 on 5.5 (Ford) bolt pattern of the 92 axle? Is it a 5 on 5 (2wd Chevy truck) bolt pattern?

If the front and rear bolt patterns are different... Things get interesting. 2 spare tires and wheels taking up space.

Watch for metric fittings and lines on the 92 axle. Just like the other brands, Dodge was playing around with running SAE and metric fasteners at the same time. Not as bad as same era Fords were, but still a nuisance.

I'm holding out for a set of 8 lug axles for my D-W conversion. Was going to body swap onto a built 92 K1500 chassis, way too difficult.
If I didn't build it, it ain't mine.

1949 Dodge B1B-108; 1969 D100-128; 72 Super Beetle; and a bunch of others...

92 brake line assembly fit right onto the 83 front Dana 44 axle. Slightly different line orientation, But still works.
No 5 on 5 inch used on a Dodge,Ram,Power Wagon etc. Its 5 on 5 1/2 (Furd pattern)
