Hello everyone, I just picked up a new to me '67 D100 custom. It's pretty strait, but before I start using it as my parts runner I would like sort out a few things.
The thing that has me troubled the most is that the entire dash ( gauges, radio, heater, wipers) are powered with the key in the off position. They also work with the key in any other position. For the time being I am unhooking the battery any time I park it.
Anyone have any thoughts before I dive into this. I am busy with field work for a few more days then I can spend some time with it.
Thanks in advance.
Bruce

Re: Gauges and dash controls always on.
I would suspect that someone has the alt wire hooked to the wrong tab on the AMP gauge? I'd say trace your 2 Alt wires in and compare them to the diagram
Or maybe down at the fuse block if everything is powered.... that is a little strange

Thanks Wally, Not to be a dope, but where is this diagram? I would love to find a wiring diagram.
Thanks again.

My wife's truck is the same way, but it's unfortunately due to some :ahem: 'creative' wiring repairs/modifications done by the previous owner. The harnesses are a mess and will soon be fully replaced with an ez-wiring kit.
Hopefully your problem can be fixed by just moving a single attachment!

Good deal, I didn't have a link but knew it was out there. It will be easier if you can find a shop manual but those will get you started. The 67's (and probably other years) are easy to mess up the firewall configuration because it a block with all open receptacles. If you don't know where to plug, you could be crossing a line from the other side unintentionally. Good luck man!
Re: Gauges and dash controls always on.
Hi everyone, a bit of an update. Someone before me has played musical spade connectors with the fuse box. Thanks to the diagram I am slowly getting things back to where they belong. I have a few more wires than the diagram shows but I know I'm on the right track.
Thanks again

Well it's all better now. Everything works as it should. Unfortunately my cracked fuse box is now a badly broken fuse box. So does any one have a spare '67 fuse box?
Thanks in advance.
