Hey there,
Are the vin tag rivits standard rivits?? I know some Mopars have a special rivit that is the shape of a pentastar. The ones I see look like regular rivits. I know it's not the right thing to do, but it's to late for me.
Thanks for the help.

They are not standard rivets. They are a taller mushroom when installed. Pretty obvious when you see them side by side. Here in WA they know exactly what rivets should be on these rigs.

Re: Vin tag rivits
They aren't the standard Home Depot variety rivet. They have a much higher dome,
and a solid head, verses a stamped head. They appear to be aluminum. Not sure when the
change was, but the earlier swepts appear to have a different head then the later ones.
I searched high and low for some with no luck. Eventually I found some with a large head
and milled them down to match.

From the latest Mopar Collector's Guide:
VIN rivets, long for padded dash Ebody, short for A bodies and B bodies. Like original, $25/pair including shipping. 830-739-1844. I don't know if these are the same as Sweptline rivets or not. Kind of expensive anyway.

Those would be the rosette rivets, cars only during this time frame. They are black with a flower petal shape.Russ wrote:From the latest Mopar Collector's Guide:

As far as rosettes go, that is a decent price.

Re: Vin tag rivits
Hi There Everyone,
The rivits are 5/32. Kind of unique, but not impossible to find. The head for the vin tag is smaller in diameter than a standard 5/32 rivit. Nothing a little time on the lathe couldn't handle. They turned out great.
