General questions - 69 D200

Post by Baz »

Hello all, hoping you can help me with a few questions I am struggling to find answers for, for my 69 D200.

1) There is some sort of unit attached to vac lines, unfortunately it came in a box of parts and I don't know what is is or where it goes. Can anyone identify it? A picture will follow shortly.

2) Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 69 d200? I have an alternator with two stud posts and two spade terminals. I know the larger stud post has the correct wire going to it, but I don't have any wires that would be for the smaller stud post and I also don't know which color wires should be going to each of the spade terminals.

3) Each of the rubber headlight loom connectors have a single female connector, does anyone know what these are for?

4) I assume the aluminum box on the firewall is a voltage regulator, are they wired with a connector or are bullet terminals stock?

5) Is there a particular source people are using for the glass fuses?

6) Are there any recommended sources for windshield wash bags?

7) What kits are available for lifting a 69 d200? I can only find 4wd kits and 2wd for other years, but nothing for mine.

8) I have what appear to be factory 16" 8 lug rims, what width are these usually?

I'll post some pics that might help make the above easier to understand. Thank you for your help!

You can get reprints of the Factory Service Manual on eBay.

Sounds like an aftermarket unit. Pictures please.

I doubt it. Bussmann works.

Glass fuses are readily available at Napa.
The factory harness has a connector for the voltage regulator, not that hack job of bullet connectors in the pic.
The correct alternator has 2 spade terminals and 1 stud. Known as the "Isolated Field System" per the FSM - get the book.
Unknown can is not a factory part.
Extra connector at the headlights is probably for optional fender marker lights - been awhile since I looked at that.

Thank you for all the replies so far. Truck has no power steering or a/c. I see a brake booster and that's about it.

Any pointers for the lift kit and wheel width?
Also what is everyone timing their 318 to?

The timing seems to be all over the place that I’ve read online. No one has a clear answer to what it should be at. I set mine at 8* BTDC in my van (318) then if it pinged adjust till it doesn’t. Gets old doing it over and over till you find a sweet spot.

yeah setting timing is an art
8 is a good starting point
depends on fuel,alt,weather,jetting,temp,cam.exhaust engine wear
so two engines may not have the same timing

Thanks guys, seems to run well at 10 btdc. Are there any recommended wiring looms out there? I think mine is past it.
