Rear view mirror hardware

Post by DukePW »

I put my rear view mirror bracket on tonight. I grabbed my rear view mirror and it just has one nut on the stud. After test fitting it there has to be more to it then that. Does anybody know what i am missing? Also does that rear view mirror stud have an odd thread on it?'
Thanks

Probably a fine thread. Take it to a parts source and match it up.
My truck is younger than me.

Yes probably fine thread but it seems like I am still missing something to mount the mirror on the bracket...a spacer, washer, second nut, something else???

My 62 with a stock mirror has a stud with threads in the back of the mirror. There is a 5/16 nut between the mirror and the mount acting as a spacer and another nut holding it all to the mount. All my other trucks have a more modern mirror on them that just need one nut on the stud to hold them to the mount.

Welp fyi. Its not a fine thread nut either!
I think it'll engage enough threads to work for now though
