funny cause the fc is different ....
but it has the trans behind the seats
but i remember my 57 cj having something like that

I just built a 1958 Dodge 315 hemi, it’s the same way. Can’t get the bellhousing off till the flywheel comes off. What a pain.

I'm confused on this.
If I want to remove the tranny from the engine, I need to remove the flywheel first? and then the tranny will come off. I haven't looked into it yet, but the references to it has me a bit concerned.

If what you have is that 70s vintage aluminum bell housing I had on my Dart 318/A833, then you would not need to pull the flywheel to either remove the motor alone or drop the trans and bell. It could have been a very smart way to get past that historic hassle with either the poly flywheel or the hydrobell with its mousehole for the crank, although I am no poly cognizenti and don't know about the flywheel/starter interface with that setup, but it is an intriguing idea.

The tranny is NOT connected to the engine! It is bolted to the bellhousing. The tranny unbolts and pulls rearward out of the bell.
On the engine referenced above, the bell will not come off the engine until the flywheel has been unbolted from the crank.

So I'm not certain as to whether the flywheel would have to come off first or not. This bell is cast iron but does not have crossmember mounts. Still not sure what bell connects a Mopar poly V8 engine to a transmission (T-90) that was not offered (to my knowledge) in a Mopar.

Correct Bucky.
The engine "referenced above" was the discussion about the early poly's, not the bell and engine in the jeep.
