Hello,

I am a recent college grad looking for a daily driver and a 1968 Dodge d200 camper special has caught my eye. I will be driving ~25 mins for work on weekdays and maybe an average of 2 hours of driving on weekends. This is the Facebook Marketplace post I found for one in decent shape: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/it ... 6267072212

I am deciding between buying this dodge d200 or a "newer" car (ex: 2004 toyota camry). Do you have any advice? What should I look for when I check out the car in person? What are things to be aware of? ect...

Thank you in advance for all your help.

but as a daily ?
two things to consider
finding parts .....are you able to fix it your self
fuel mileage ....10ish gets old quick

I was looking online for parts and some didn't seem so hard to find? maybe im wrong??

I should be able to fix any issues myself.

normal stuff you can find
other stuff ...good luck ....but can improvise
not that i've looked to hard but nobody local has rear brake shoes for my 67 d100
so something like an alt or starter could have you walking for a few days
just something to think about if is your daily
plans are to daily my 67 but i 2 other rides if something happens

A smart man ounce told me, its all relative, I didn’t know what that meant until I started making more money.

I've been daily driving a 64' for about 2 years now. Once you get them sorted they are very reliable trucks, has never left me stranded. I have a 3 spd column shift with a mild built 318 Poly. with 3.55 gears and stock tire size i get about 13mpg if i'm careful on the pedal, not to bad. A majority of your parts will be available, there are some odd parts that you play hell trying to find, in my experience 68 and lower drag links are obsolete, spent weeks trying to find one. A ball joint for one side only is discontinued and difficult to find as well. Keep a stock of spare stuff like a water pump, fuel pump, distributor... I live in the PNW and needed to seal my truck up, for a while I used linseed/mineral spirits to seal the paint, worked but would attract road grime. I just recently clear coated it. I used POR15 on all of my wheel wells, back of my bumpers, rear diff, front axle and all suspension. I plan to do the entire underside next summer. Be prepared to go through just about every system, brakes, wiring, engine, trans, diffs are usually fine, steering and so on. They are nicely performing trucks, somewhat agile and stock drum brakes work pretty good with metallic pads
