which headers fit ??

Post by Blizzard523kf »

Hello, looking for ideas on which headers will fit my 71 Utiline. I swapped out the front end for the QA1 IFS, engine is 400 ci. I tried the hedman headers # 79250 long tubes but it hit the steering knuckle off the rack and pinion.

Any ideas on headers that will fit ?

any help appreciated,
thanks, Karl

Probably expensive but might have to have some made.

Maybe there are some shorty style BB headers out there? :thinking

I once had a set of Sanderson Block Huggers on my 440. It was in a Desoto Fireflite at the time. Not sure if they are still being made.

Have you asked QA1 to see if that have a recommendation?

no help from QA1 but I picked up a pair of TTI 383-178 headers from Rob's Rod Shop in Downington PA. (great mopar guy). The collector just bumps the transmission crossmember. I cut of the collector and in the process of welding on short radius 90 bend to get under it then weld on the end..

so far so good will post pics when complete

with modification the header slid right in with about an inch clearance from the crossmember.

for me it bolted right up, I'm doing a ground up rebuild so will be awhile before it's out for a road test.
