Vent wing window top clip

Post by Ian30 »

Does anyone know where I can buy one? New or used, I don't care, just need one. It is the clip that sits in the door top track that holds the top of the vent window frame.

A fellow on a Facebook group is parting out a '70. He has already sold the vent wings, but the clips may still be in the door frame:

If the screw is undone the clip stays in the track on the door top.

Thanks man, I would really appreciate it. I have been working on this truck for 14 years and am close to being done and somehow I just can’t find this clip.

To disassemble/remove the vent wing, you must remove the screw that threads into the clip. So the clip remains in the door upper frame channel. You have to be gentle and careful when removing the clip from the channel, so you don't break it. When re-assembling, you'll install the screw and clip on to the vent wing frame before you install the vent wing weatherstrip boot, as you don't want to pierce the boot to access the screw. When installing the vent wing assembly in the door, the clip will snap into the upper door frame channel. Some times you'll need to utilize a block of wood and a hammer to gently tap the vent wing assembly so the clip fully seats into the upper door frame channel.

You may also try reaching out to the Thorps. They have a number of salvage sweptlines. https://www.dodgesweptlineparts.com/preview/ You'll probably have to phone them to inquire.

I was wondering if "dodgesweptlineparts" was legit because it says they only take money orders and bank transfers. Seems odd

Yes, they're legit. They got burned on a credit card charge back. As a result, they quit accepting credit cards, unless you've done business with them before. They post on here from to time with answers to questions and folks seeking items. I believe they also offer some services, such as power steering valve and cylinder rebuilds. They also created a FB Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/494285770727486

Credit card companies are almost as bad as Ebay. Ebay always sides with the buyer when there is a dispute. I've been burned several times on Ebay sales where the buyer didn't do their homework on fitment or a similar issue. I have a no return policy. So they state it was defective to get around that and the return shipping expense, which the seller gets stuck with.
