My friend says he has a 57 dual quad intake on his shelf that I wouldn't even need to paint. The color and patina matches my engine.
My question is, will Edelbrock carbs bolt to this or only the '58 and later intakes? I read somewhere that the 57 uses some small original, unobtainium, never heard of before carbs.....

Re: '57 dual quad intake
ALL the poly dual quad manifolds use that small base carb.

Re: '57 dual quad intake
Appreciate the quick reply.
Would you know, is there an adapter available?

Re: '57 dual quad intake
While I would agree this would look really cool, in my opinion, the drive-ability will suffer. Unless you are making other, dramatic, modifications to the engine & driveline, it'll be too much carburetor.

Re: '57 dual quad intake
@martincom - I agree with your statement but at this point I am just exploring whether it is do-able at all. Thinking out loud, a pair of 390cfm Holleys on adapters with a good ignition system, mild cam, port the heads and add a 100 shot nitrous for the occasional burnout. If that works at all then build a new shortblock with good rods,, more compression and a bigger bump stick.
Trying to decide if I want to stay with the nostalgic motor or swap in the 300hp LA 318 with swirl port heads and A833 4 speed I already have. Yeah, I know that's a lot of work and I have a police Crown Vic front suspension to install too.
I have plenty of time to think about it with other projects to finish first.

Re: '57 dual quad intake
What about using two 4 barrel to 2 barrel adapters and running twin 2 barrels to lower the total cfm?
