Dash shifter alignment

Post by tvtn »

I have a 68 d100 that sat for 12 plus years that I just purchased. I have repaired/replaced many items that did not exist or had improper parts installed. My problem is misalignment? of the dash mounted gear shifter. Trans is a 727, and seems to work fine. None of the original kick down linkage was there and I bought a carb adapter to get that working correctly, but the shifter is a different story. If I am able to get park and start, drive is where 2nd is and if I get it adjusted so 1 on the shifter is low gear then park doesn't work. Are there different (wrong) lenght shift arms that my have been installed on the tranny? Thanks in advance for your help.

arm on the trans arm should have a "dog leg" on it, should be on the post so the dog leg is to the rear of trans
