You don't specify a year and model so don't know if they are all the same. For my '69 100 I remove the horn ring, disconnect the horn wire and then the ring that is screwed to the wheel hub (3 screws). Then remove the steering wheel (you'll need a wheel puller). Then you should see the turn signal switch. It is held down with a single screw in the centre that also holds the indicator stalk in place. Once the screw is removed you can pry up the switch. I take a picture as I remove each item so I know how they were oriented when I put it back together. It's a good idea when you disconnect all the wires under the dash you tie a string to one of them when you pull it through. Then you have something to pull the new wires back down the steering wheel column.

Where did you source a signal switch? I am going to have to replace mine as well and have been looking at the typical suppliers (rockauto) and wonder if they are any good.

67step100,

I purchased one of the NOS switches bluegenes referenced in his thread:

viewtopic.php?f=21&t=43833

Presently, I have an 18 month old China repop in the '71 D100. It took a fair amount of fiddling to make it function correctly when installed. Now, it is starting to be troublesome about latching into the right turn detent. So I maybe installing the above referenced replacement in the near future. I see there are still some available from that Ebay seller.

Will that switch work for a D100? It says D300, 400 and 500.

So I am confused. Attached is a pic of my switch, which is pretty much all plastic. The switch on ebay is primarily pot metal by the looks of it. Is my existing switch a repop and will the metal one work in my situation?

I was/am relying on the information shared by other members in the thread I referenced. They state it'll fit and work. However, the wire length may need to be altered and possibly the harness connector is different.

Plastic was a new technology in the '60s and slowly began to work its way into vehicle production. As such, I wouldn't at all be surprised if earlier switches had a pot metal housing and later years were plastic, but yet interchangeable. My '69 Daytona Chargers lower dash cover is vinyl covered pad. My '70 Charger R/T lower dash cover is plastic. The dashes are essentially identical other than that and the column mounted ignition & emergency flasher switch in '70, as well.

looking at the pins on the other end, they look correct for 69, and 71. 68's had bullet connectors. so it might work if it mounts alright in the top part of the column.

So what did you finally do? My existing China re-pop is acting up after 10 months of service. It doesn't always return fully, when cancelled, from a right hand turn. Just enough that both of the rear lamps flash, as if the emergency flasher was on.

I have the die cast ebay switch and was wondering if that was the route you took and if you encountered any issues?

I ended up just getting the one from rockauto. I didn't want to spend $130US to find out it wasn't going to fit. I have enough new parts already I can't use and will need to resell (not this vehicle). It just dropped into place. I had to replace the ends to bullet connectors but everything is working, including the self cancelling. It ended up being easier to replace than I had anticipated. Some of the wire colours are different but easy enough to sort out if you have your original to compare. I'm hoping it lasts more than a year.

You made a wise decision. The die cast switch does not fit. I ordered a replacement from Rock Auto, also.
