Fender Pentastar emblem placement

Post by Stubs68 »

Curious if all 1961-71 trucks came with a pentastar emblem on the passenger side fender? I have seen some with them and some without (maybe they were an option or just fell off)? If you do have the emblem, can you help me out with placement on fender? A pic with measurement would be great. Thank you.

My late 65 has it. It’s 2 1/2 inch from rear of fender to center of pentastar and 13 1/2 inch from bottom of the dodge emblem to center of pentastar.

If yours fell off there would be a hole that it was mounted in.

Yaaaaaa, you think it would have a hole wouldn't ya. I replaced my fenders and the new fender did not have a hole. If I remember correctly, the old fender did not have a hole either? Thus the question did all sweptlines come with these.....?

The Pentastar was created in 1962 and was first placed on the passenger side (right side for left hand drive and left side for of right hand drive)of cars partway through the 1963 production year. The link is to the history of the Pentastar.. The first time a Pentastar shows up in a truck brochure is 1965(can barley bee seen in image below). I have a 1964 and had a early 1965 neither had Pentastars, so late 65 might be when they were first used on trucks.

Thanks, the member trucks and knowledge really helps. Looking like it may have been standard at some point then might have been optional from 65-71? Possibly part of a package like Adventurer or Custom? However, not enough information yet to make that determination. Will keep looking at member responses. Thanks again.

This emblem was missing when I started the restoration of my dad's 1967 D100 Custom. As part of the restoration process I installed an aftermarket gold colored plastic emblem into the existing passenger side fender holes. Installed with adhesive used for door weather stripping in lieu of "speed nuts".

That emblem was never installed with a speed nut. It just has a pin that locks into the hole.

Probably the reason the original emblem was missing.

FYI, there is an "edit" function that allows you to change anything on a previous post, including adding pics. :idea

What determined if the truck left the factory with one or not? Is it part of a trim package?

Trucks I am not sure of.

The Pentastar after its introduction was used on every model car, until..... I have something, somewhere that says it went away for 1972 models, but it did return again.

Some NOS car fenders available after assembly line production stopped did not have the holes.

I did research the Pentastar placement on original 1970 Challenger fenders long ago, they splattered all over.

With mass produced parts being turned out by multiple machines, differences occurred.

I didn't even think about that, my truck that has it is a Custom package.
