1968 Adventurer Package

Post by Stubs68 »

Looking for information on the 1968 Adventurer package. I believe it was offered in both D and W series trucks in 1968. However, like other parts on the 68 some of the equipment is specific only to the 1968 model year (1 year only) before they changed over to the 69 with different hood, hood latch, dash and other changes. Specifically looking for differences in the Adventurer badging for 1968? From what I have found in my research the Adventurer badge was a bit different in the scripting style. I believe 68 was the first year the Adventurer package was offered on sweptlines and I also believe that they changed things like the Adventurer badge once the package was solidified in 1969. Must have used an existing Adventurer badge (maybe from a A100 van) in 1968 and then came out with a new looking badge in 1969. Can anyone add to this, provide pics and confirm? Thanks.

I have 2 different styles of ADVENTURER Emblems. The ones I put on my 66 W100 came from a 68 D100 and the extra pair from a later truck if I remember correctly. :thinking :thinking
My truck is younger than me.

the '68 Adventurer name was different than the 70... (not sure, but probably on the 69 as well). The small name on the glovebox was a leftover part from the early DeSoto Adventurer names on the car glovebox. Here is a picture from a 1956 DeSoto Adventurer, Middle picture is from my 1968 Sweptline, last one is from a 1970 D-200 Adventurer. Neither one is the same as the DeSoto nameplate that was on their rear panels.

Yes, that's what I needed verification on. Thank you! So now the hard part. Where might I find a set of 1968 Adventurer emblems? The middle pic from Jims68 are the ones I need. I believe the original parts number from Chrysler is 1954350. I am also checking on the 60's A100 vans as that emblem looks to be very similar to the 60 Swetpline Emblem. Please let me know if you have any leads and thanks again for the information :clap
