Door Handle Swap

Post by Stubs68 »

I see on an earlier post that a few members mentioned a door frame latch would need moved if a person wanted to go from push button door handles (65-71) to refrigerator handles (61-64). Can you elaborate? Is this just an adjustment or do you need to matching latch from the older vehicle and is cutting, welding, drilling required? Thank you!

Yes to all of the above, to be correct. Even more difficult if you are trying to swap just the handles on the door (which is what the subject line says) and not the whole door.

Thank you for the reply. Sounds like its not worth the time just to get the look of fridge handles. Appreciate the feedback!

Oh gawd no! Not to mention that the latch starwheels on originals are almost all worn to death and there are no economical and/or easy replacements available.
