In the process of building up a vehicle with donor parts one finds interesting things. So between the 1961 D500 & 1964 D200 there's a few differences between the steering column parts and such, here's the short listing:
1961 D500 - PN 1939389 (says metal and was used thru 1969)
shaft is 2 different diameters 0.875 on the bottom and steps down to 0.750 on the top bearing area
turn signal switches, look quite a bit different
back of steering wheel uses 2 cancel tabs
1964 D200 - PN 2510945 (plastic)
shaft is one diameter 0.750
uses a wire turn signal cancel @ one point
turn signal switch has a lot of plastic
dust boot @ bottom of shaft with spring retention and spring seal on shaft
So does just about any of the 61-72 Sweptline Truck turn signal switches interchange? on the electrical portion, wires look the same

The only one I've ever seen is on the left.
It was also used in passenger cars.
I've changed a lot of them.
Damned plastic retrurn arms break.

lube up the 61 style ts switch. its a carry over from the power giant era. its a bit more HD than plastic but they can break too if they get too dry. lube every 10 years and your good. ;/)
I have had 4 61 D300s and all have the PG era switch

Yay, that's what I was thinking that those arms would break off, I did find the arm pieces on eBay for sale for around $10
I thought it was good that parts were reasonable and available. The metal one appears to made from a rare exotic material seeing that it's priced for NOS is crazy.

Thank you. That's what I was thinking there was some running change when production ran outta inventory.
So clean the dirt off and what do you use for lube, dry graphite, or . . . . .? Also wondering about the T/S switch does it require blowing out or any other type of cleaning?
This one just looks so much heavier duty and I was thinking if I could keep the dirt and dust outta the top of the column things would continue to work.
