ProCar bucket seats

Post by WD »

I scored a set of old touring buckets. Plan is to delete the headrests, change the seat covers a bit, and install. On the bench seat frame, separated by a custom console.

Any drawbacks to this kind of install? The bench base is straight up junk, couch cushions and canvas over a good frame. It works, kind of... I think decent buckets, hard mounted to the stock frame, would work better, maybe?

The buckets came w/o bases, and the bench is thrashed, so... I have other bases with sliders, but they would need the floor modified. Taurus SHO parts or Ranger parts, have 2 of each.

The 49 is staying bench, the 69 is going full custom anyway.
If I didn't build it, it ain't mine.

It may be an interesting project. The bench frame is the seat itself so I don't believe there is an easy separation.

Unbolt the upper seat. Gut the seat base. 1/4” flat steel stock, a handful of stainless fasteners, 8 heavy duty L brackets from the farm co-op. Lockable heavy duty Rubbermade tote.

So far so good. It’s coming together, slowly. My geriatric Beagle likes it... good enough
