frame vs rock

Post by fireguyfire »

I have my frame completely stripped and ready for sand blasting, then paint. The very front crossmember has a big dent in the bottom, I'm assuming from a rock in a field as there was a nice corresponding dent in the engine oil pan!
Anyway, I put a large crescent wrench on the lip of the crossmember and was able to bend it out a bit.
The good news; I took triangulation measurements on the entire frame and it is still dead straight; the bad news, it looks ugly especially once it is in fresh paint.
Has anyone got any suggestions how I can remedy this?

Heat and hammer, or remove and replace.
