I have a friend who is looking to get a new DODGE decal for the tailgate of his 1970 Sweptline. Can someone post the dimensions of the decal or even a good source for one of these? As you know I like to help out my Dodge friends when ever I can. Thanks John

Hopefully someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I always thought the 70 and 71 tailgates were different. The 70 having the raised letters and the 71 having the flat panel with decal.

Its debatable. The 69 had raised letters while 70 was both raised and smooth and 71 should be smooth only. Give it a day or two and this will be contradicted. 69 was definitely embossed but in 70 the new smooth tailgate was offered. I believe the embossed surplus was used up during the early 70 production run so 70 was both.

In 1970 the flat tailgate was standard on the Dude. The top trim Adventurer got the metal plaque on a flat tailgate. The others were stamped.

There were a couple of decals on ebay not too long ago.

I have one each of the 71 DODGE NOS decal. pt #3494089 and a FARGO NOS Decal. PT # 3494090. PM if interested.

P# 3494089 is black and P# 3494942 is white. P#3494090 is black Fargo. It's listed under 23-54-11 in the parts manual as being 17" X 5". I've been told a good rubbing of an original is all that's necessary for a reproduction.

My 70 d100 has the stamped tailgate.
