manual shift lever paint sheen

Post by fireguyfire »

Gents; getting down to cleaning and repainting a lot of parts now that I have my truck completely torn down.
Ran my manual shift lever through the bead blast cabinet today; the old paint was mostly gone and what was left was grimy and beat up.
Can anyone tell me what the more proper factory sheen on the manual shift lever would be; semi gloss black, or gloss black?

I would say Matte Black. A flat color is TOO FLAT, but you need something with a minimal shine. Never Gloss paint. See the pic of my column with the original paint. The dash is the same black too. It just has a hint of gloss to it.

Good to know; I have always done my Mopar muscle car dashes matte, and that's what the truck dash will get too.
I'm glad I asked as I would have guessed a semi gloss finish as it is more durable.
