power assist ram position ?

Post by flammulator »

Hello again from germany.

In which position is the power assist ram bolted on?

Wheels in straight position and the rod from the ram half way out ????

The ram extends to make a left turn and collapses to make a right turn. With the ram mounted on the leaf spring side and loose in the middle turn the wheels left then fully extend the cylinder and mark the steering link. turn the wheels right and fully colapse the cylinder and mark the steering link. Using these marks place the cylinder mount in the center and securely tighten the u- clamps. This is a two person job as the steering wheel will need to be held in the full lock position in each direction while you mark the steering link. This should take all of the guess work out of the equation and assure that you have the same travel in both directions. Please note that the wheels actually turn further than the cylinders travel so you will loose a little turning radius.
