1970 A/C

My W200 came with factory A/C which hasn't worked in several years. I believe it has a high pressure hose leak. I want to get it fixed but not sure which route to go. My A/C guy can repair and charge with R12 but highly recommends that I convert it to a newer refrigerant and replace the fittings. Is there any advantage to keeping it R12? Resale value down the road? I know R12 is getting scarce and expensive. Any recommendations appreciated.
Thanks
John

R12 cool's better but is expensive. The last time I checked a 12oz can of r12 ran about $100.00 and that was several years ago so it cost more now. I think the conversion would be wise.

You're already going to be replacing the high pressure hose, I would change the receiver/dryer unit, and might as well change the other hoses while he's in there (it's not that much more money and they're 47 years old anyway). At this point other than a few o-rings and an oil change in the compressor (which should be done when there's this much done), every area of concern with a r12 vs. r134 swap is pretty much taken care of. Then if there is a problem down the road you're not shelling out for the high cost of r12

I've been using Re-Tek 12A in place of R-12 for years. Cost 7-8 bucks a can. I personally never had an issue with it. Still using original hoses and RV2 compressors on two of my projects. :2cents
