If the lever on the left here under the dash the parking brake? I can't say I can tell if it is working whether it is in this position or pulled up. Which way should it be when driving? Thanks.

First off, what year is your truck? Is it standard or auto.? Early models '61-mid 65 have a trans brake. late '65-'71 rear axle. Down is off. Park on a incline and set brake. if it rolls trans. brake or axle adjustment is out of wack. :2cents :Thumbsup ( if auto, take out of park when testing)

by the vent knob and steering column, that is a 69-71 truck. So e brake is in the rear end. You can get a little bit of adjustment on the e brake by twisting the plastic knob. Otherwise check cables and rear brakes.

Are u sure about the adjustment Bud? Ive got later trucks that the knob is just a grip and there is no adjustment. Also, the position of the vent control indicates 69-71. Earlier were mounted in or on the under edge of the dash.

Yes Terry they are adjustable unless it is rusted. And I did say the vent showed it to be 69-71 as does the column.

I'll see if I can find the one that is not adjustable. Yes Bud, I was adding that not only is the vent knob the later style, as u mentioned, but the location is also different.

Thanks for the info. Yes it is a 1971 and automatic. I should know better to at least post that information when asking a question of the community here.
