Stretching engine compartment to fit a Cummins?

I have seen Cummins swap threads here where they either omitted the fan, or cut the firewall to make it fit. So I was thinking, What if a guy moved the cab back to create enuff room, then stretched the fenders and the cowl top? So my question is, how much room is needed if I used the stock fan, plus intercooler and AC condensor? Is 3" enuff? Once I know much extra room is needed, then I will do some scale drawings to see what it would look like with a stretched front end. I am converting a crew cab shortbox to a long box, so I will be grafting the 2 frames together. That gives me an opportunity to make the frame longer to move the cab back.
Thanks, Joel

Very interesting, thanks. Those lengthened front fenders actually look pretty good.
