It started as a d200 but did they make a d200 short bed in 1970? I like the truck but its kinda been butchered right? thanks in advance.

The VIN is for a D100. The only short bed D or W200 they made in 1970 was a crew cab.

It was a prior service vehicle and the military did get special stuff done from time to time. I saw a lot of strange stuff. During my service and even took part in turning multiple 2wd's into 4x4 duallys. All in all it looks home made the bed is to short.

I'd say it was pieced together for sure. That's a np201 tcase, same as the one under my 65 w100. I guess it would depend on how good the running gear is and how much you'd have to pay for it. Its pretty cool looking, if you could get it for the right price, I'd say go for it.

That's an early NP201, judging by the e-brake drum. It looks like it has the Braden FTD-7
PTO on it as well. The wheels are 17.5" and are a bit tough to find. The rear spring perches
on the front were bolted on.... so maybe some modifications there too? I think the cross
member for the tranny is the '69-'71 style.... so maybe a short wheelbase '69-'71 frame
with 4wd running gear added?

Well the CL ad is gone so I didn't get to see what y'all were speculating about.

My guess was 1970 D100 cab bolted onto a 68-earlier W100 frame.
