Blower motor access

I've got a hickory nut or leaves in the squirrel cage. I guess that's how it got its name 
I have been hoping it would dislodge itself but, no go. Anyway the FSM shows a plate over the blower but, mine doesn't look like the pictures it references. The other picture is correct but, it doesn't show disassembly. This is a 70 with factory ac. Can someone provide instruction how to access the area or possibly another suggestion. Thanks Craig
