My Carb is well worn - Best option to replace?

Post by Warren »

1968 D100 w/318 and Stromberg carb - Getting fuel starting to leak past the lower bushing area and even after rebuild thinks have gotten so loose the accelerator pump is almost useless...

So what is the best and hopefully not too expensive option for me? Don't mind wiring for electric choke if need be.

Are the eBay replacements any good at all?

Thanks!

Those China re-pops are crap. Don't waste your $$ on one. Good Strom.'s are hard to come by. A 2 barrel Holley may be an option. If you can afford it, I would swap to a Edelbrock 1403-04 and a performer intake works really good on the LA318. :2cents

Well turns out there's a Stromberg on there but it was originally a Carter from the factory.

I look at the Holley but not sure what is involved in the swap...

I've found a fully refurbed Carter for $200 - I just need to look to see that it will still hookup and nothing was changed on my truck - Particularly the kickdown linkage... :thinking

The manual choke Edelbrock performer 4bbl on mine works well. Not overly expensive, either. :2cents

Well now it turns out that Dodge did indeed roll out 1968's and 69's with the Stromberg carb on the D100 - So I do have the correct carb. I found a good refurb supplier so I am in hog heaven...

My '68 D200 came with a Stromberg WW2 on it. That's a good source to have
for those looking for an original replacement. :2cents :Thumbsup
