"S.O. Number"

Post by W500 »

I can't find anything that says what the S.O. No. field on the data plate represents. Any ideas?

S.O. stands for shipping order.

I looked at all the 1968 trucks in the registry and over 90% shown have an SO number that begins with 17 or 18. There are a handful that begin with other numbers like 2,4,6,7 and maybe 9 (I forgot already  ), but all have a 7 or 8 as the second number.

Bill, CRS gets worse as u get older.
SO stands for "Sales Order" as u in 2013 and Ben in 2008 stated in the posts linked below:

That is what I thought, but author James Schild refers to them as Shipping Order numbers in his books. It looks like he is wrong going by Ben's picture unless cars had it listed differently.
