1970 Dodge Speedo Help

Post by Styxs11 »

Whenever I drive my dodge, the speed in the gauge jumps all over. What would be causing this to happen? Bad gauge, or am I needing a new speedo cable and speedo gear?

My truck had the same problem.
I lubed the speedo cable but it didn't help.

Turned out to be the speedo head.. now it's smooth like butter
There's a little oil port near where the speedo cable threads on. It might be covered by a small metal plug you need to pry out.
Inside there's a little felt that you can soak with a bit of oil.
