Anybody know the resistance range for the temperature sending unit for a 66 poly 318?

I recently replaced the thermostat in it but the dash says it's way hotter than it really is, the dash gauge is pegged at hot but you can touch the engine. It's even that way when I first start it up.

If its showing HOT with just the ignition key On (cold motor), then somewhere between the sender & the gauge the circuit is grounded. Pull the wire, & see if it shows HOT with the key On. If not, then trouble is with the sender. It yes, then the wiring is grounded.

At least this is true of later trucks.

Is your fuel gauge working properly? Sometimes, the voltage limiter
that is built into the fuel gauge will go on the fritz which will cause
the temperature and fuel gauges to not function properly. :study :2cents

The other gauges work great, and the wire looks alright, I'll try replacing the unit.
