Steering Column replacement
Have to replace my steering column, appears to have been a tilt column, but was cobbled back together by previous owner(s). Can I take a steering column out of an 83 D100 and use it?
Any and all suggestions appreciated

What year is your truck? Sweptlines did not have tilt columns.

PO either cobbled together a steering column or something inside broke and they tried to use electrical tape to keep it all together. Steering wheel moves up and down about an inch with about the same side to side.

Re: Steering Column replacement
Getting ready to replace column. Repair manual makes it sound super easy. Having issues.
1. Steering wheel will not come off. Closer inspection the spokes on the wheel are cracked at the hub.
2. Unable to figure out how to get the inner shaft to come thru firewall.
Any help appreciated, really use piks.

Re: Steering Column replacement
So, the steering column has been replaced. Huge props, high fives, kudos to powerwagon54. Did the Grant steering wheel install as well. Have to say that driving it is no longer an exercise in wishing for nothing to break. Now trying to figure out why the 4 Wheel drive will not engage.

Re: Steering Column replacement
Lock the hubs, put transfer case in 2 Hi, 4 Hi, or 4 Lo, and it goes no where. Have it at the shop and one of the U-joints inside the axle, gave way and buggered up the shaft. Shop is trying to find a replacement. I am already in touch with Powerwagon 54 on possible replacement parts.
